Beautify – the first iPhone App that understands facial attractiveness.
Los Altos, CA (July 1, 2011) – Have you ever taken a photo where you didn't look your best? Image analysis specialists Uncut Video have an App for that - announcing the first iPhone App that uses facial attractiveness technology for an instant makeover - automatically. Speaking at their Los Altos offices, founder Guy McNally said, “We wanted to make this new technology available to everyone and make it a part of the social fabric”.
No touchup skills are needed as the App contains its own “model of perfection” that it applies to the portrait while preserving individuality. At recent private demonstrations hosted by Intel Corp. at San Francisco’s Exploratorium, visitors were amazed at the quality of the results for both men and women, creating profile photos that are easily uploaded to Facebook or Twitter with a single click.
About Uncut Video
Uncut Video is a software developer based in Los Altos, CA specializing in semantic analysis of video, image and audio. Founder & Principal, Guy McNally has more than 20 patents in the field and has developed the specialized library, called smartience, for both casual and professional applications. The Beautify App was developed by Chris Zamara who has a track record of innovation in media technology. Zamara comments, “We believe that everyone wants to look their best on Facebook or on sites like Match.com, so we set out to make that as easy as possible”.
Factoids:
- Women make up over 42% of Smartphone users yet are targeted in less than 2% of applications.
- Women dominate Facebook usage and other sharing sites, 3X more than men, but few of the features are designed especially for them.
- The fashion and cosmetics industries will see 440% growth in on-line sales by 2014 fueled by virtual stores and augmented reality Apps.
How it works:
The Beautify App automatically detects all the facial features; then smoothes and tones the skin, whitens teeth, accentuates and shapes eyebrows, lifts eyelids, and performs dozens of other enhancements. The amount of the adjustment can be set with a slider showing how the face would look at any level; anything from a minor perk-up to a full-blown face lift. The developers claim that the app can make you look anywhere from 5 to 20 years younger, depending on the photo and the "beautification" level selected.
Beautify availability:
The Beautify App is available now at both the iTunes App Store and the Intel AppUp℠ center. The AppUp version has extended features that take advantage of the larger screens on netbooks and PCs.
